Medical Director Dr. Maura Henninger received her undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and continued her studies at The Columbia University Premedical Postbaccalaureate Program. She followed her passion for holistic healing to University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine. After completing four years of study, 1200+ hours of in-residence clinical training, and a medical internship at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, she earned her doctoral degree in Naturopathic Medicine. She received additional training at The New England School of Homeopathy. She is also boarded as a Certified Nutrition Specialist®. Dr. Maura is a board member of the New York Association of Naturopathic Physicians and a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

							It was May 2024 and I woke up again with a big bloated belly, I had tried everything, every diet, every tip on the internet, I was on my 4th doctor, and my SIBO still wouldn't go away. I was beyond upset, I looked 4 months pregnant. In a panic I started googling again and I came across Dr. Patel and his glowing reviews, and boy am I happy I did. I cannot express my deep gratitude for Dr. Patel, my SIBO is gone, my stomach is flat again, and I feel better than ever! I was able to be in a bathing suit all summer without feeling self conscious. 							Having been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, my gastroenterologist placed me on a daily dose of mercaptopurine. In spite of the medication, I continued to experience abdominal discomfort, and on occasion, pain, severe enough to require a hospitalization. When my doctor suggested I begin taking Humira, I was so frightened by the drug’s potential side-effects that I refused. My wife suggested I seek a more natural solution to my condition, which brought me to Dr. Maura Henninger. After a few simple tests, Dr. Maura provided a list of foods I should avoid, a specific carbohydrate diet and a few daily supplements to support my digestive system and reduce inflammation. Within six weeks, my C-Reactive Protein level dropped from over 100 mg/L to 5.27 mg/L. I feel wonderful and haven’t had any reoccurrence of discomfort or pain. My gastroenterologist is extremely pleased and continues to monitor my condition. He has taken me off all medication! I have Dr. Maura to thank for what could have been a life long struggle with medications, side effects and abdominal pain. She is truly a lifesaver!

							I have had a great experience with Dr. Patel. He is warm and personable, which is really helpful when you are talking to a stranger about your poop! He ordered thorough testing, and even asked me if there were other tests that I wanted to do. That was HUGE, as I’ve had several doctors turn me down when I requested tests in the past. (That seriously blows my mind. If I want to be tested and am willing to pay for it, WHY NOT?!?!) The conventional doctors I saw about my digestive problems were absolutely useless. They wanted me to accept IBS-D as a condition with no cure, and could only offer me drugs to slow down my intestinal function and hopefully reduce my symptoms. However, after working with Dr. Patel for about 6 months, the severe IBS that I had been struggling with for 3 years finally started to heal! Additionally, I really appreciate that I was able to do my testing at home and my office visits online. I couldn’t find anyone like Dr. Patel near where I live, so I’m really thankful I could work with Dr. Maura’s clinic this way.
