The way we approach preconception in my practice is going to be totally different for each person. I wanted to share a little bit about what I worked on to get pregnant in my 40s without medical intervention.
Every single patient I work with has a different story. I work with women wanting to get pregnant with all kinds of hurdles from autoimmune disease to PCOS to MTHFR issues and everything in between.
Thankfully, I don’t struggle with any of these things but I do have a wonky cycle and my age, in terms of egg quality, is a factor.
Here’s some of what I took:
EGG QUALITY: mostly antioxidants to help with the mitochondrial strength of the egg
-NAC
-Biotherapeutic drainage remedies called Undas
-Melatonin
-CoQ10
LUTEAL PHASE STRENGTH: progesterone boosters
-Chasteberry
-Evening primrose oil
ADRENAL SUPPORT
-Adrenal glandular + eleuthero + panax ginseng
-Vit C
Other things: I did weekly acupuncture and took Chinese herbs; only exercise I did was yoga, walking and gentle cycling to preserve my body’s vital energy; I prioritized sleeping 8-9 hours/night; I cut out anything that was introducing high stress into my life.
